Exhilarating, lasting memories……We are off to visit Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab & Uttrakhan criss crossing over India’s religions – Hinduism, Sikhism & the Muslim faith, the sacred river Ganga & Yamuna, golden sands of Thar Desert, Taj  full moon spectacular, shimmer & glistening rays of sunset & sunrises.

Taj Mahal ‘ the epitome of love ‘ has charisma & we have 2 visits to bath in the charismatic energy & imposing beauty. It is the immense love behind this outstanding monument that has given life to this masterpiece. Nothing short of an architectural marvel, no wonder it stands proud as being one of the ‘ Seven Wonders of the World ‘. Walk along the pathway beside the reflecting pool with fountains up to the mausoleum crafted in soft & pure marble, jewelled with semi precious stones, where in the serenity of paradise rests Mumtaz Mahal, the Reason,  in peace with Shah Jahan, the Maker her husband. Dawn when the first rays of the sun hits the dome of this epic monument, it radiates like a heavenly abode, cloaked in bright golden. Wait…. at night, basking in the glory of a full moon glow , it shines like a perfectly carved diamond, appearing as if straight out of some magical tale, leaving us awestruck by its sense of grandeur. The story of Shah Jahan, his beloved wife Mumtaz & Taj Mahal!

We explore New Delhi, a city of stark contrasts & once my home for 4 years past. An internal air flight takes us to romantic Udaipur soaking in beautiful sunsets over massive Lake Pichola, travel to Jaipur the Pink City to experience Rajasthan’s royal Amber Fort & Hawa Mahal via the Aravalli Hills & Ranakpur Valley, rest & relaxation in the charming village of Samode, see the ancient now deserted city Fatepursekri. Visiting Agra & Agra Fort to learn the mystery of the beautiful Taj Mahal built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his favourite wife, Mumtaz 1653. Another internal air flight takes us far into the northern state Punjub, food bowl of India & sense the awe of the Golden Temple Amritsar, train travel on the Shatabdi Express will take us on to Haridwar under the foothills of the Himalayas to view devotions & rituals on the Ganges, not just a sacred river, a goddess & the Life Source of India.

9th May 2016

Arriving into New Delhi I will meet you. Transfer arrangements will be made for you to our guesthouse where you will have time to relax after your long flight.


10th May

TT TSpice market copyNew Delhi. We meet 8am, make our way for breakfast at New Delhi’s famous landmark Imperial Hotel known for it’s heritage & legacy. Tour Old Delhi, see Red Fort, travel thru on rickshaw Chandi Chowk & Spice Market. Afternoon is away from the crowds, we go to Gandhi’s Remembrance Museum, after we will explore the fascinating area of Nizamuddin my home away from home base in New Delhi. Overnight New Delhi.


11th May

Early breakfast. Today we to fly north to the State of Punjub, food bowl of India, into the  capital city Amritsar. In this area we experience the spectacular patriotic energy at the Pakistan India Wagah Border for the sunset Changing of the Guards then onto the Golden Temple, soak in the awe & beauty of this sacred holy place for India’s 20 million Sikhs. Overnight Amritsar.                        


12th May

GANGA_3961 copyEarly morning we depart Amritsar with a picnic breakfast, traveling by day train to arrive in Haridwar on the Ganges. Viewing sacred devotions & rituals on the Ganges gives you an insight to the depth of belief Hindus have for the Ganges, not just a sacred river but a goddess & the life source of India. Hindus believe that life is incomplete without bathing in the Ganges. Overnight Haridwar.


13th May

day6-shoppingEarly morning yoga followed by partaking in a priest lead Havan – worship thru a sacred fire -on the edge of the Ganges if you wish this is an option. Hotel breakfast. We drive away from the ‘ Land of Gods’, this name refers to the many holy Hindu temples & pilgrimage ashrams found throughout Uttarakhand. Arriving back to New Delhi late afternoon. Dinner this evening is feasting on North West Frontier Peshawari cuisine at Bill Clinton’s favourite New Delhi restaurant. Overnight ­New Delhi.


14th May


Hotel breakfast. This morning we fly southwest to beautiful Udaipur, in former days the historic capital of the Mewar kingdom world famous for the Rajput- era palaces. This afternoon we soak up the beautiful sunset views, lakeside from our historic Haveli, what is a Haveli? Haveli is the private mansion of rich merchants this one dating back to 1750’s. Recommend option is a sunset lake boat cruise. Overnight Udaipur 2 nights. 


15th May

Lit-Day4-Udai-city palaceOptional early morning walk up to the vista point of Neenach Mata Temple, 850 meters up hill walk above Udaipur. On return to our haveli time for a relaxed breakfast. The day sight seeing Udaipur, visit a local artisit studio, you can loose many hours in the flamboyant City Palace, palaces within the Palace & viewing the ‘forgotten’ amazing crystal gallery. If it is shopping you are after, Udaipur will send you home with a great collection of home decor & fashion.   Overnight Udaipur.     



16th May

RabariOptional early morning yoga to suit all levels in our hotel if your wish. Hotel breakfast. Driving north on our travels we enter the Pali district where we view the holy Jain Temple in Ranakpur Valley, a great example of refined skills of Rajasthani craftsman from a bygone era. We journey into the heart of Aravalli Hills, there at the foot of a mammoth granite rock, surrounded by forested hills & rocky outcrops is our beautifully maintained heritage hotel which was once a hunting lodge of Jodhpur’s Royal family. Still owned by members of the royal family, now transformed from a hunting lodge into a small stunning heritage hotel. Overnight Narlai.         


17th May

Early morning yoga to suit all levels in our hotel is an option. Hotel breakfast then drive onto Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur the Pink City. Why the Pink City? In 1879 the city was painted terracotta pink to welcome Prince Albert & Queen Victoria. A lot to see & do in Jaipur, catch a Bollywood film in the famous Raj Mandir cinema, see the historic side of Jaipur, visit the many Jewellery stores, you are in the Gem Stone capital of the World. Overnight Jaipur 3 nights.


18th May

Wind Palace IndiaOption of morning yoga to suit all levels in the hotel. Morning free. Option of hot air ballooning is available. Afternoon of history & everyday Jaipur bustle. We walk through Hawa Mahal & City Palace built in 1799 inside the old walled Pink City. We explore the imposing Palace of Winds formally known as Hawa Mahal. The many small windows decorated with intricate stone lattice allowed Royal ladies observing strict “purdah” (face cover) to view everyday life in the street below without being seen. After City Palace we explore Old Jaipur city, inside the 6 meter high 3 meter thick walls, are a series of bazaars for local residents as well tourists. Overnight Jaipur.

DAY 10

19th May

Option of early morning yoga to suit all levels in the hotel. Hotel breakfast. Today we take a morning elephant ride up the huge ramparts thru gates along cobbled paths into Amber Fort an opulent palace fort. Afternoon is free. Plenty to choose from visit an elephant farm in an elephant care village that promotes the well being of these giant creatures & shows tourists they are not mistreated, explore the bazaars, Bollywood cinema, massage or relaxing at our hotel. Overnight in Jaipur.

DAY 11

20th May

FullSizeRender copy 23Option of morning yoga to suit all levels in the hotel. Relaxed breakfast & we leave Jaipur to visit the small farming community village of  Savadar where I have connections with the local school. Visiting this rural school gives us a chance to interact with very keen English speaking young students, the future of India can be seen in the faces & smiles of these enthusiastic children. Arrive early afternoon at the peaceful surrounds of Samode Bagh with time for a swim to cool off. We stay overnight in tented cottages amongst the 16th-century Mughal style garden spread over an area of 8 hectors, enclosed by a 14 meter high stone wall. Overnight Samode 2 nights.

DAY 12

21st May

Yoga if you wish, breakfast, the day by the pool relaxing with a good book, walk onto the village of Samode thru dusty country lanes past farmer families tending their crops, goats & bullocks grazing. Our heritage hotel offers desert camel & cart rides where we can view the sun setting whilst a top the camel, enjoying journey. A tour of nearby Samode Palace & if you wish stay on for dinner in their beautiful elegant dinning room. Overnight Samode.

DAY 13

22nd May

Coming-soon-Romantic-Taj-view-by-nightYoga & after early breakfast, on our travels today we visit the remarkable Abhaneri Step Well built around 800AD. Step wells were invented by the natives to harvest rain water. This well was used as cool places of resting & water reservoirs during parched times of the year. Traveling further east we visit the site of Fatepursekri, now deserted city, built in 16th Century as the capital of the Mughal Empire by Akba the Great. At our hotel a swim to cool off & relax. This evening the wonderful chance to a ‘once in a life time’ experience, viewing the full moons pearly silver glow bathing the Taj Mahal is our highlight, a photographers delight. Overnight Agra.

DAY 14

23rd May

Taj MahalRelaxed breakfast & time for a refreshing swim. This morning we revisit the world’s most grand monument to love, a “Wonder of the World”, built by Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz, the Taj Mahal. After soaking in the beauty of the Taj, this time dazzling white in full sun, we explore Agra Fort where in the final years of Shah Jahan’s life he was imprisoned by his son. We return to New Delhi, arriving early evening. Overnight New Delhi.


24th May

Final day of the tour is free to fill the hours before your departure.

The accommodation I have selected has a story to it, meaning some places with long history’s & royal connections in Rajasthan. In Delhi a modern private guesthouse with an Indo Western ambience, in the northern city Amritsar a modern chic hotel followed by in Haridwar a heritage haveli. All places I have stayed at before & always found them clean & safe with air conditioning.

The cost of $3951 is per person in twin share accommodation. Costs would be higher for a single traveller, invite someone to join you & have fun together. For road travel our small bus is with a professional driver who I use regularly. Our driver is not a Tour Guide. During May weather is hot during the day with beautiful warm evenings perfect for sitting outside, bring along your swimmers. Maximum of 8 people on tour plus myself, your companion.
